Our installation job was to install a new parts washer for a car and commercial-vehicle workshop in Kassel. Once we had moved the unit in and positioned it, the next step was aligning it. The washer is loaded by means of a feed trolley, so it is essential that the unit, the trolley and the rail mounted on it match each other and that everything is level. This ensures that the user can later simply roll heavy parts into the machine in the washing basket and no longer has to lift heavy parts by hand.

Parts Washer for a Vehicle Workshop

Our installation job was to install a new parts washer for a car and commercial-vehicle workshop in Kassel.

Once we had moved the unit in and positioned it, the next step was aligning it. The washer is loaded by means of a feed trolley, so it is essential that the unit, the trolley and the rail mounted on it match each other and that everything is level. This ensures that the user can later simply roll heavy parts into the machine in the washing basket and no longer has to lift heavy parts by hand.

The parts to be washed are first lifted onto a feed trolley using a small slewing jib crane.

Once the unit was fully aligned and fixed in place, we turned to connecting the power supply cable. This had to be routed through cable ducts and terminated in the control cabinet.

Next came the installation of the compressed-air lines on the machine. For this, hoses were laid, pressure gauges installed and suitable shut-off valves fitted at the hall entrance. After the compressed air, we installed the fresh-water supply line and laid the waste-water pipe.

The supply air and exhaust air were also connected via a stainless-steel pipework system. For this, bends, flanges and pipes had to be adapted and welded together. After the complete installation, we commissioned the unit together with the customer, and the first parts were washed on the day of installation.

Managing director of Omega Mounting GmbH, Rodgau · more than 20 years of hands-on experience in installation and maintenance

A trained mechatronics technician, at home in maintenance, servicing and industrial installation since 2004 – first alongside his father, and since 2012 with Omega Mounting: from the overhead conveyor in Frankfurt to the crane system in a new-build hall. As appointed person for lifting operations, he plans and leads lifting operations in data centers and on industrial sites in the Rhine-Main region, is an instructor and examiner for cranes, aerial work platforms and telehandlers, and a safety officer. On assignments abroad he is known as the "German Troubleshooter" – the one you call when things get stuck on site. He did not learn what quality means from a manual, but from his father: Made in Germany as a standard for his own work, not as a label. That is why quality comes first at Omega Mounting – before speed and before price. The project diary shows the jobs his team has planned and carried out – without customer names, but with everything that can be learned from them.
