An incredible relief operation in the 2021 flood area

We were deployed for the Dachzeltnomaden / DZN aid organisation and installed the complete infrastructure for Camp 2.0 in Rupperath.

Almost 1 kilometre of cable had to go underground. For this, trenches were dug with an excavator and partly by hand, conduits were laid, power distribution boxes were installed and everything was connected to the standby generators.

In addition to the heavy 63 A cables, many sub-distribution points had to be set up. All sub-areas such as the industrial kitchen, storage containers, office containers, storage tents and of course the campers had to be supplied.

Help after the 2021 flood

Back then, the task was to build a complete camp for the helpers on a bare meadow. Everyone pitched in hard and achieved what seemed impossible!

Normally we set up our infrastructure on construction sites or at large events. That is why we were well prepared for this situation, were able to support the planning and had sufficient material in our warehouses.

Marius Althof of Marius Althof Filmproduktion accompanied us with his cameras at the time and put together a clip that shows what our team is capable of. Thank you for that…

We are grateful that we can support so many relief operations with our own equipment, the know-how of our employees and our vehicles!

We are well equipped for the next call-outs!

In future, too, we will make the impossible possible together with our partners and the aid organisations we work with…

How we move in and install standby power systems in regular operation is shown in our overview Moving in standby generators at the data center.

Tobias Schott

Managing director of Omega Mounting GmbH, Rodgau · more than 20 years of hands-on experience in installation and maintenance

A trained mechatronics technician, at home in maintenance, servicing and industrial installation since 2004 – first alongside his father, and since 2012 with Omega Mounting: from the overhead conveyor in Frankfurt to the crane system in a new-build hall. As appointed person for lifting operations, he plans and leads lifting operations in data centers and on industrial sites in the Rhine-Main region, is an instructor and examiner for cranes, aerial work platforms and telehandlers, and a safety officer. On assignments abroad he is known as the "German Troubleshooter" – the one you call when things get stuck on site. He did not learn what quality means from a manual, but from his father: Made in Germany as a standard for his own work, not as a label. That is why quality comes first at Omega Mounting – before speed and before price. The project diary shows the jobs his team has planned and carried out – without customer names, but with everything that can be learned from them.
