Installation and Maintenance for Armed Forces, Defence and Critical Infrastructure
For sites and installations where not every contractor is allowed to work: installation, maintenance, relocation and custom fabrication with a permanent in-house crew from Rodgau near Frankfurt. We have worked for the German Bundeswehr, for army maintenance and for the US forces in Germany – and we know what access, escort and documentation mean on those sites.
- Why us
Trust is not built on promises, but on habit
Anyone contracting for the armed forces, for defence manufacturers or for operators of critical infrastructure needs technicians who treat access rules, mandatory escorts, phone and camera bans, personnel notifications and complete documentation not as a surprise but as the normal way of working.
That is our everyday routine. For the Bundeswehr we installed and fully fitted out a container facility on an ammunition depot in the Taunus hills and built another on a training area in the Rhön; in an army maintenance depot in southern Hesse we installed a maintenance and repair platform for armoured vehicles; for the US forces we have worked on the Ramstein and Spangdahlem air bases. In the defence industry we built a steel mezzanine platform in the plant of an aerospace manufacturer in northern Hesse and installed crane systems at a defence technology manufacturer on behalf of the crane maker. Add to that years in the security area of Frankfurt Airport, data centres with escort requirements, chemical and pharmaceutical parks with contractor clearance procedures, and a workshop fit-out in a nuclear-sector area – every time under the rules of the facility, every time with handover documentation.
Why we do this. We are fitters, not strategists – but we know what supply, protection and safety depend on in everyday life: on installations that run, and on people who show up when they are needed. Bringing our skills to where they serve the protection of the public is not one line of business among many for us; it is a conviction. We have shown we mean it through our non-profit sister company Bauwerk Rodgau: after the Ahr valley flood we brought more than a thousand heating systems back into operation, and we have been active in disaster relief ever since – in Germany and abroad, from Bavaria to Moldova, Turkey and Slovenia.
We are neither a corporation nor a broker: a limited company from Rodgau near Frankfurt, founded in 2012, with our own workshop, our own fleet and technicians who have worked together for years. Security-cleared personnel is available on request; proof of liability insurance, health and safety standards and qualifications is provided before the first tool is picked up.
We know the routes this work travels. On Bundeswehr installations the day-to-day work – maintenance, minor works, framework and single contracts – is let by the local Bundeswehr service centre (BwDLZ) under the federal infrastructure agency BAIUDBw. Larger construction goes through the federal construction administration: in Hesse the LBIH, whose military construction division builds for the Bundeswehr and for the US forces stationed in Germany. On US installations the counterpart is the garrison Directorate of Public Works (DPW) under USAG and IMCOM-Europe, with the supporting contracting office issuing the award. Most of our work in this field has reached us through a prime contractor – we are the host-nation subcontractor, with German trade qualifications and English-language paperwork.
And we know what happens before the first bolt. Base access requested with lead time, badging through the visitor control centre, escorted access where the site requires it, force protection rules and standoff distances, a written method statement and risk assessment, a permit for hot work, a toolbox talk before the shift. Our fitters’ security clearances are complete and on file. We work to a statement of work or performance work statement and hand over the documentation in English or German, in your format.

Four steps that are routine for us – and that relieve your security officers instead of keeping them busy.
1. Enquiry and confidentiality. We talk about the framework first, then about details. We sign non-disclosure agreements before the site visit; photos and publications only with your express approval.
2. Clearances and personnel. You receive the personnel list with ID data, proof of qualifications and briefings in good time. Security-cleared personnel is available on request; proof of liability insurance and health and safety standards is with you before the job starts.
3. Execution under the rules of the site. Mandatory escorts, restricted zones, phone and camera bans, tool control, work permits: we comply without discussion – under our own EHS standard and your requirements.
4. Handover and documentation. Test reports, photo documentation (where permitted), maintenance schedules and handover in German or English – in the form your office can pass on.
Documents we can provide
Procurement offices and security officers check against a list – here is ours.
What we do not do
No weapons or ammunition technology, no engineering, no security services. We install, maintain, relocate and fit out – and we say beforehand what we can do and what we cannot. For everything else we are happy to name partners we work with.
- Services
What we take on for sites and installations
Standby power, UPS and cooling: maintenance, replacement, emergency
The heart of every piece of critical infrastructure is the power supply when the grid is gone. We maintain standby power systems, repair radiators and cooling circuits, replace generator sets in an emergency and bring generators, load banks and distribution units to places no crane can reach.
- Generator maintenance on standby power systems – scheduled, with test reports
- Radiator repair on a data centre standby generator, with pressure test
- Generator set replacement as an emergency call-out on a Sunday evening
- Load banks and generators lifted in with a 220-tonne mobile crane, 160 PDCs positioned
Container facilities and modular buildings: from setting down to moving in
Guardhouses, accommodation, sanitary and technical containers on military sites: we do not just set them down, we take on every trade until the guard force or the crew can move in – exactly as we did on an ammunition depot and a training area. And when workshops are equipped, we install maintenance and access platforms for vehicles through to acceptance – as we did in an army maintenance depot.
- Levelled foundation, placement by loader crane, connection of the modules
- Sanitary fit-out with toilets and showers for 24-hour duty
- Frost-proof water supply with trace heating, drainage with proper fall
- Split air-conditioning units for cooling and heating, power connection and lighting

Setting up entire camps – from planning to the first hot shower
A site does not have to be built of brick to work. Field camps, staging areas, temporary accommodation, relief camps: as soon as people have to be housed, supplied and made able to work somewhere at short notice, every trade is needed at once – power, water, waste water, network, heating, cooling, accommodation. That is exactly what we set up in full: from the first survey and the cost estimate to the moment the first shower runs hot.

Planning and cost estimate
Before the first metre of cable is laid: record what is needed, calculate loads and consumption, define cable routes and standing areas, cost out material, manpower and dates. You get a firm figure and a schedule – not a guess over the phone.
Generators, standby power and refuelling systems
Setting up gensets and standby power systems, feed-in, distribution and protection. For smaller projects we have our own 110 kVA genset; larger units and the refuelling technology – tanks, fuel lines, bunds – are hired in and connected by us.
Standby power and energyCables and utility lines
Laying and installing power, water, waste water and data lines: routes, crossings, drive-over protection, strain relief, frost protection – documented, so that later everyone knows what runs where.
Water, waste water and sanitary facilities
Placing and connecting sanitary containers and units: toilets, showers, hot water, supply and disposal. The plumbing installation itself is usually done by our partner company – when it is urgent, our people work alongside them.
Network and communications
Laying routes and conduits, setting distribution points, connecting containers and tents. Simple networks we build ourselves, anything larger together with our IT partner.
Container complexes, tents and air conditioning
Setting up, levelling and bolting together container complexes and room modules, erecting tents, installing air conditioning and heating. What we do not hold ourselves we organise at short notice through our partners – tents and event technology through our sister company Eventwerk Rodgau.

- FAQ
Armed forces and critical infrastructure: straight answers
Have you already worked for the Bundeswehr, the US forces or the defence industry?
Yes. For the Bundeswehr we installed and fitted out container facilities on an ammunition depot in the Taunus hills and on a training area in the Rhön and installed a maintenance and repair platform for armoured vehicles in an army maintenance depot; for the US forces we have worked on the Ramstein and Spangdahlem air bases; in the defence industry we built a steel platform in the plant of an aerospace manufacturer and installed crane systems at a defence technology manufacturer. We do not publish details or photos – references are available on request with the consent of the clients.
Are your technicians security-cleared?
The required security clearances for our fitters are completed and in place, matched to the levels our sites demand. Anything your site requires beyond that we arrange in good time before the job. Our people are used to delivering personnel notifications, ID copies and briefing records in advance.
How do you handle confidentiality and photos?
We sign non-disclosure agreements before the site visit. We take photos only where permitted and publish nothing without your written approval – not even in our project diary.
How do you take part in procurement?
So far our work in this field has come to us as a subcontractor to general contractors and specialist firms. We bid directly on enquiries from agencies and service centres; we do not yet hold our own prequalification for the German federal e-procurement platform and are working on it. US procurement in English is no obstacle, and proof of suitability and insurance certificates are available.
Can you come at short notice in an emergency?
Yes. In an emergency we are usually on site within a few hours – provided access and clearances have been prepared. We run around 10 to 15 such call-outs a year, primarily for clients we already work with. That is why we recommend registering us as a contractor before the first emergency.
Can you equip a complete camp or field site?
Yes. We take on the infrastructure of a camp from planning and costing through to commissioning: power and standby power with generators, distribution and refuelling technology, the laying and installation of cables and utility lines for water, waste water and data, network technology, and the setting up of container complexes, tents and sanitary facilities including air conditioning and heating. Plumbing installation and larger networks are handled by partner companies, tents and event technology by our sister company Eventwerk Rodgau. Our build-up of the power supply for a relief camp in the Ahr valley shows what that looks like in practice.
Which documents can you provide?
Commercial register extract, business liability insurance with a high level of cover, our documented EHS Standard 2026 (German and English), qualification certificates of our technicians (including Appointed Person for lifting operations, crane and forklift licences, qualified electrician), briefing records, tax and social insurance clearance certificates and references – the overview is in our company profile PDF (German).
Who awards this kind of work on a German or US installation?
On Bundeswehr sites it is usually the local Bundeswehr service centre (BwDLZ) for installation support, maintenance and minor works, under the federal infrastructure agency BAIUDBw. For larger construction it is the federal construction administration – in Hesse the LBIH, whose military construction division also builds for the US forces in Germany. On US installations the requirement normally comes from the garrison Directorate of Public Works (DPW) under USAG and IMCOM-Europe, and the award from the supporting contracting office. In practice most of our defence work has come through a prime contractor who brings us in as the host-nation subcontractor.
What do you need before your crew can come on post?
A base access request with lead time – names, dates of birth and vehicle plates – badging through the visitor control centre, escorted access where the site requires it, and the operator’s site induction. Depending on the task we also need a permit, for example for hot work, and we provide a method statement and risk assessment beforehand. Our fitters’ security clearances are complete and on file. We do not hold a formal German government facility security clearance; documents marked for restricted use are treated as confidential and not passed on.
