INDUSTRIAL INSTALLATION FOR CRANE CONSTRUCTION

Putting a crane into an empty hall is a trade. Getting one into a finished hall where work continues is our discipline.

THE HALL IS ALREADY STANDING – THE CRANE STILL HAS TO GO IN

Omega Mounting installs overhead, gantry, jib and suspension cranes including runways – mostly where the building has long been standing and production keeps running. That is exactly what sets the job apart from a new build: there is no open roof, no clear floor space and no crane reaching in from outside.

So we work with what is there. We bring components in along existing routes, lift section by section with our own equipment and cordon off only the area currently being worked above – the exclusion zone moves along and the rest of the hall stays usable.

And when an old crane is to be replaced, we first check what can be reused from the existing runway. Often more than the client expected.

FOUR REASONS WHY COMPANIES CALL US IN

Cranes in existing halls

A 16-tonne crane installed at over 30 metres, a suspension crane brought in through the open roof of an industrial plant. Anyone can do a new build – the finished hall with production running is the real task.

Replacement in existing facilities

Old double-girder crane out, two single-girder cranes in – on the existing runway, with the necessary modifications. Where others quote for a complete rebuild, we first check what can stay.

From jib crane to gantry crane

A 2 t pillar jib crane, a 16 t double-girder overhead crane, gantry cranes, suspension cranes, runways: the full range rather than a single type – and independent of manufacturer.

Crane runway & steelwork ourselves

Brackets, runway girders, reinforcements and modifications are made in our own workshop in Rodgau. No waiting on a second company, no interface in the middle of the project.

WHAT WE TAKE ON IN CRANE CONSTRUCTION

From the runway to handover for operation – steelwork, installation and electrics from one team.

Overhead & bridge cranes

Installing, aligning and commissioning single- and double-girder overhead cranes – documented up to 16 t, including at over 30 metres.

Crane runway & steelwork

Manufacturing and installing runway girders, brackets and reinforcements, aligning and adjusting rails, setting end stops – from our own workshop.

Crane replacement in existing facilities

Dismantling the old system, bringing in the new one, checking the existing runway and reusing it where it is structurally sound – including adapting it to the new configuration.

Gantry & jib cranes

Gantry cranes, pillar and wall-mounted jib cranes for workshops, halls and outdoor areas: foundation connection, assembly, alignment and test run.

Suspension cranes & special solutions

Suspended runways and cranes fixed to the roof structure, moving in through the open roof, solutions for halls with no conventional access.

Inspection, maintenance & repair

Supporting recurring inspections, working through findings, replacing wear parts, overhauling trolleys and travel gear – so the system stays in service.

EVERY INDUSTRY HAS ITS OWN RHYTHM

Installing a crane follows different rules from repairing something on the line. Knowing both means planning realistically.

Automotive & Mechanical Engineering

The weekend window

Production on two or three shifts, downtime only at weekends. The window is fixed – what fits into it is decided in advance.

Crane construction

The moving hall section

Nobody may work beneath the installation. So areas are cordoned off section by section – the exclusion zone moves along with the crane and the rest of the hall stays in operation.

Logistics & intralogistics

The night between two peaks

Sorting and loading equipment runs at its limit seasonally. Repairs happen at night, at weekends or alongside operations – and before the peak season, not in the middle of it.

HOW A CRANE INSTALLATION IN AN EXISTING FACILITY SUCCEEDS

01SITE WALKReviewing the hall, runway and load reserves, defining the move-in route and lifting points, agreeing exclusion zones with operations.
02PREPARATIONPrefabricating the steelwork, specifying lifting equipment, scheduling deliveries and the assembly sequence – so that the hall is only used for installing.
03DELIVERYLifting and setting section by section, aligning and adjusting the runway, connecting the electrics – only the area beneath the installation is cordoned off.
04HANDOVERTest run under load, operator briefing, documentation for the inspection – and the system goes into service rather than into a queue.

CRANE CONSTRUCTION: STRAIGHT ANSWERS

Can you get a crane into a finished hall?

Yes, that is our speciality. We have installed a 16-tonne crane at over 30 metres and brought a suspension crane in through the open roof of an industrial plant. When no crane reaches in from outside, we work with our own lifting equipment along existing routes – section by section, instead of opening up the hall.

Does production have to stop for the crane installation?

Usually not entirely. Nobody may work beneath the installation area, so we cordon off section by section and let the exclusion zone move along with the work. The rest of the hall stays usable. Where a complete shutdown is unavoidable, we schedule it for a weekend or a shift break and prepare everything in advance.

Can you replace an old crane and keep using the existing runway?

Often yes – and it is usually the considerably cheaper solution. We check the runway’s load capacity and condition and tell you what can stay and what needs upgrading. In one case we removed a double-girder crane and installed two single-girder cranes on the existing runway.

Do you build the runway and steelwork yourselves?

Yes. We manufacture runway girders, brackets and reinforcements in our workshop in Rodgau and install them ourselves. That removes the interface with a second company – and with it the waiting that otherwise arises mid-project.

Are you tied to one crane manufacturer?

No, we install independently of manufacturer – from 2 t pillar jib cranes through double-girder overhead cranes to gantry cranes. You get the system that suits your hall and application, and a single contact who is also responsible for the runway and steelwork.

Do you handle inspection, maintenance and repair as well?

We support the recurring inspections, work through findings and carry out repairs: trolleys and travel gear, wear parts, rails and end stops. The formal inspection itself is done by the appointed inspector – we make sure the system passes it.
