We installed a crane runway for an overhead crane. In doing so, we supported the plant's own maintenance team during the erection. The crane runway was shortened, and new end stops and bearing blocks were welded on.
The crane runway was shortened, and new end stops and bearing blocks were welded on. Despite its dimensions, a crane runway like this has no large tolerances. That is why installation depends on accuracy and the right measuring methods.
It is important that all columns are in the correct position and that the diagonal dimensions are right. Once each column has been fixed and aligned using anchors and adjusting screws, levelling of the height begins. For this we use a large rotating laser to align all columns to the same height. This is done using adjusting screws on the base plate.

Once all columns are at the correct heights, we fix the base plates using the anchors we bonded in beforehand. The base plate is then underpoured with Pagel, thereby fixing the base plate in place.
Fixing with bonded anchors requires trained personnel and a great deal of experience in handling the Pagel grout, as it too needs the right mixing ratio. In addition, the formwork for the base plates must be properly sealed so that no grouting material can escape.
Only when all parameters and torques are correct can optimum fixing of the crane runway be guaranteed.
Once all the columns were fixed, the next step was to lift the crane runway, fix it and weld it firmly in place.
For this, the crane runway was lifted onto the columns with two forklifts and aligned using the laser, then brought to the correct gauge. The in-house welders were then able to fix the crane runway to the steel girders, and after the maintenance team had surveyed the runway, the crane could be placed on it and connected.

As appointed person for lifting operations, he plans and leads lifting operations in data centers and on industrial sites in the Rhine-Main region, is an instructor and examiner for cranes, aerial work platforms and telehandlers, and a safety officer. On assignments abroad he is known as the "German Troubleshooter" – the one you call when things get stuck on site. He did not learn what quality means from a manual, but from his father: Made in Germany as a standard for his own work, not as a label. That is why quality comes first at Omega Mounting – before speed and before price.
